The 3rd Annual Illinois Catholic Prayer Breakfast

April 30th 2010

Keynote: Bishop Salvatore J. Cordileone of Oakland, CA

The 3rd Annual Illinois Catholic Prayer Breakfast is honored to feature Bishop Salvatore J. Cordileone of Oakland, California as the keynote speaker for April 30th 2010. Bishop Cordileone was gracious enough to adjust his schedule to step in as our emergency speaker. We are grateful to him for saying yes to our invitation.

Bishop Cordileone is perhaps most well known for his leadership in the
Proposition 8 movement in California to protect natural marriage.

He will speak about the basic principles of Catholic Social Teaching and share with us his experience with the Proposition 8 Campaign and the lessons that he learned for himself and the Church. This talk is not to be missed.

The work of the Catholic Prayer Breakfast is the work of Christian Hope in our State, a reminder of who we are and the powerful witness of life and light that we bring. The Catholic Faith is the Sacrament of Civilization and CHRIST is our true HOPE for CHANGE.

Don't miss this inspiring event. You are invited to be part of this historic event for Illinois.

Honoring the True Heroes of the Healthcare Debacle

The story is beginning to get out. The real hero of the healthcare debate is our own Rep. Dan Lipinski of Illinois. In the weeks, days and hours before the collapse of the pro-life coalition, it was Rep. Dan Lipinski who stood strong, stood on principle and would not capitulate under pressure to sell out the innocent and vulnerable in our society - the unborn baby in the womb. Rep. Dan Lipinski will be present and we will honor him for his work in standing up for our fundamental moral principles in the public square.

Program includes Holy Rosary, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, exhibitor hall, full breakfast, and inspiring program.

Illinois Catholic Prayer Breakfast

At the dawn of the New Millennium, beloved Pope John Paul II called for a New Evangelization - "new in ardor, methods and expression" - so that all people might have a life transforming encounter with the living God.
Responding to the call for a New Evangelization, the Illinois Catholic Prayer Breakfast invites Catholics throughout the State to gather as one to thank God for the blessings he has bestowed on our country, to reaffirm our faith and promote the teachings of the Catholic Church, pray for our nation and its leaders, and give glory and honor to God as a visible witness to our culture.
The Illinois Catholic Prayer Breakfast is an affiliate of the hugely successful National Catholic Prayer Breakfast begun in 2004. Since that historic event, the spark has caught fire and Catholic Prayer Breakfasts are being organized throughout the country and even around the world. Originally conceived along a format that allows families, priests and religious, and business people to attend in the morning without significantly disrupting their day, the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast has responded to the overwhelming enthusiasm of the participants and has grown to become a three-day event filled with the vitality of the Faith.
Modeled on the first National Prayer Breakfast, the Illinois Catholic Prayer Breakfast offers a morning program intended to permit all people to attend and not significantly disrupt their day. The program seeks to be powerfully edifying and enriching to the participants and the hope is that the event will draw participants from every Illinois dioceses (Bellville, Springfield, Peoria, Rockford, Joliet and Chicago) and the uniate churches (Latin, Syro-Malabar, Byzantine, Malachite, Ukrainian, etc.).
The Illinois Catholic Prayer Breakfast hopes to contribute to the renewal, growth and development of a New Springtime of the Faith here in Illinois.
